Douglas Davenport has 39 years of investment-management experience, was a senior vice-president of the Robinson-Humphrey Co, vice-president with Kidder Peabody Co, president of Astrop Advisory Corporation and president of Atlanta Investment Counsel, LLC.
Douglas uses a technical-analytical strategy developed with Sir John Templeton, the late founder of the Templeton Mutual Funds, to manage clients’ money. Before joining Trinity Capital Management as Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Doug was the former president and chief investment officer of Davenport Investment Management LLC, an investment firm that managed portfolios for high-net-worth clients in Atlanta.
As manager of Templeton’s Wisdom Fund from 1998 to 2009, Douglas outperformed the benchmark S&P 500 and earned a 5-star Morningstar rating* for 10 of his 11 years at the helm. In 2006, Sir John Templeton tapped him to help develop and manage a strategy for managing a model portfolio of exchange traded funds (ETFs). The strategy employs a proprietary set of technical timing tools that give investors exposure to major asset classes such as stocks, gold, oil, and currencies.
Douglas is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a cum laude graduate of the John Marshall School of Law.
He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and Fiduciary Law of the State Bar and has served on the Finance Committee of the State Bar of Georgia from 2011 to 2014.
Douglas, in the past, has served on the Board of Governors of the University of Tennessee, and is a past president of the University of Tennessee’s Atlanta Alumni Association. When not working, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife, Claudia, traveling and enjoying their two children.
